Don't Leave

"You mean the Lieutenant? I think he just left."

"Really? Gaia!"

Cloud turned, nearly tripping on his heels as he began racing down the hallway towards the elevator. He had heard the Wutai War was having to be handled by SOLDIERs and they had to be leaving tomorrow. but the news had been Zack and the others were heading out that night. Cloud had to be fast if he wanted to catch Zack.

It had all begun last night, when he and Zack had been out. They were having a wonderful time! They had been playing around and laughing together and picking up on each other's backgrounds. But the trouble had started all when Zack had kissed him.

Why had he ran out...

When Cloud finally summoned the elevator, he stood there for a moment, his heart beating wildly in his chest as he stood there in his night clothes. They consisted of a blue button-up shirt and a pair of long blue pants. He must have looked quite out of his mind as he ran down ShinRa HQ with this on, but he really didn't have the time to change.

"Hurry up! Holy damn!" Cloud kicked the door in his frustration and a few seconds later, it opened up for him. Cloud instantly pressed the button for GF (Ground Floor) and held his hands together as the doors closed on him.

Inside the elevator, Cloud was tensed up. His breath was evenly hitched in his throat and his eyes were filling with tears from the fear of no time. As he watched the glowing letters atop the doors change, he felt like it had been a year since he pressed the button for the lobby. He instantly punched the doors with tears on his cheeks.

" Damn it!" he shouted, "Come on you stupid thing! Open!"

In the lobby, Zack was following Angeal outside into the cold air. It sent a shiver down his spine and he shuffled in his ShinRa issued coat, and he even felt the need to tuck it under his chin to keep his neck warm. That's when Angeal turned to him.

"You stay here for a second. Alright? Let me get these cadets settled into the vehicles."

"Okay, 'geal."

Zack leaned against the wall of the nearest structure, which happened to be the ShinRa building. The raven haired man actually sighed and shut his eyes a little, thinking about what had been going on last night. It was supposed to be so fun.. so perfect..

" ZACK! "

"Huh-- OOF!"

Zack felt his bag dropped from his grip as Cloud tackled him into the snow, the two of them landing together. Zack was the first to sit Cloud up and sit up himself, "Cloud? Gaia damn it, get yourself back inside! You'll freeze to death out here, ya know?" He helped Cloud to his feet and brushed the perfectly white snow from the other's spikes.

"Zack I--"

"No. Now."

"Zack I have to--"

"Cloud, you'll catch your death out here! Inside!"

" ZACK! " Cloud shouted, tears streaming down his face as he clutched the other's shirt. Zack, for the first time, noticed these blue but shining tears on his friend's cheeks and raised both leather clad hands to wipe them away. "Cloud..?"

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry I ran out last night! I'm so sorry!"

"You're only saying that to make me feel better about it.. I was forcing you into something. It's alright."

"But Zack, I'm serious! I mean it!"

"...."

"Zack how do I prove it?!" Cloud looked utterly desperate to fix it. Zack rubbed his neck nervously and shook his head before he felt Cloud tug him down to his height and press their lips together. Zack, at first, blinking and didn't really move until Cloud tried to. When the blonde was about to move away, Zack placed his hands on the younger's cheeks and held him there.

Cloud, on the other hand, shut his eyes and placed his hands on the older's bent arms while the kiss was held onto like something lost. And this continued for a long time before Zack pulled away... well... not really.

It was Angeal who was pulled Zack away into the trucks, "Let's go, Pup."

"OW! 'geal! OW!" Zack whined, looking back at Cloud as he was dragged off. He gasped, "Call ya' later, Spikes?"

Cloud, standing barefoot in the snow, nodded.

"Okay."
